With no quick access to the area each run will require the same traverse so if it’s a powder day make it worth it. For the advanced riders who are looking for a hike to really earn your turns, heading left from the top of the Pleasant Valley quad will allow riders to head towards the only double black diamond area in the resort name Double Trouble. Getting there is part of the fun with an area known as the Devil’s Playground. Perisher is not well known for its advanced or expert terrain with only 18% of the resort allocated to black runs but for those looking for a challenge should be looking to head over to the Ridge quad chair or Summit quad chair on Mt Blue Cow. When the storms or low visibility rolls in the abundance of trees will keep intermediates happy and challenges as they hunt down hidden powder stashes. Perisher does a fantastic job of grooming this huge resort and many mornings intermediates will love the fast and long groomers. Guthega Peak and Mt Blue Cow also offer exceptional intermediate runs. Mt Perisher has 2 chairlifts and 2 T-Bars with over 15 blue runs coming off in each direction. Much like its neighbouring resort Thredbo Perisher is the place for intermediate riders with 60% of the resort classified as intermediate terrain. For the beginners who want to step up and elevate their new skills the Pretty Valley double chair is the perfect place to explore with gentle but longer green runs to really hone those turns and start to feel those edges. Smiggin Holes has its own chairlifts and T-Bars where everyone can get used to the process before taking on the rest of the resort. The front valley is perfect for newbies to the sport and Smiggin Holes is a dedicated learner area situated to the side of the resort which gives first timers and children the ability to learn at their own pace. With a base altitude of 1699m (5574 ft) and a summit altitude of 2054m (6739 ft) Perisher offers a vertical drop of 355m (1165 ft).
